Wander & Nest

Last weekend, we drove 2.5 hours up the East coast from Christchurch and we’re absolutely blown away when we reached our destination of Kaikoura. We knew we would be right on the Pacific Ocean, and knew that mountain were close by, but holy moly, we had no idea it looked like this!

The day we arrived was cloudy, rainy, and windy, but still amazingly beautiful. The sky was so alive!

We feasted on seafood, including the hands-down the best fish and chips we’ve ever had and delicious giant crayfish. We stayed in an Airbnb with the most amazing view!

The sky cleared and Sunday was the most perfect sunny and warm day. We were so lucky! We visited the seal colony at Kaikoura and Mara loved ssshhhing us because the seals were sleepy. And we got to add another picture to our collection of Mara at beautiful playgrounds.

This quick weekend trip really inspired us to plan a few more weekends and longer trips to experience the wild beauty of New Zealand’s South Island!
